15th December, 2022
HMRC have announced on 15 December 2022 an extension to the requirement for traders to migrate from CHIEF to CDS. The new planned date for CDS exports will now be 1st December 2023.
With this announcement, exporters have until 30 November 2023 to move across to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), 8 months later than previously announced.
The new deadline replaces the former planned date of the 1st April 2023.
According to Sarah Hartley, Director of Border Change Delivery at HMRC, “The extra time also allows businesses and stakeholders more time to prepare their customers and software products for the November deadline”.
HMRC will provide further information about the timeline for CDS exports by the end of January 2023.
